The film. Sergio Leone’s 1966 epic The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is the third film in the Dollars Trilogy. Against the backdrop of the American Civil War, three gunslingers hunt for buried gold. Clint Eastwood’s taciturn Blondie, Ennio Morricone’s score and Leone’s stretched-to-breaking-point duels helped define the modern screen western.
