Charlie Chaplin Biography

Born on 16 April 1889 in London, Charlie Chaplin knew a childhood of poverty before inventing one of the most universal characters in the history of cinema.

With the Tramp — bowler hat, cane and inimitable walk — he made the whole world laugh and cry. An actor, director, producer and composer, he dominated the silent era and co-founded United Artists. From City Lights to The Gold Rush, to Modern Times (1936) and The Great Dictator (1940), he blended slapstick and social satire with an undiminished modernity.

A major figure of the 20th century, exiled for a time from the United States, he remains an absolute benchmark of the seventh art. Our framed Fine Art photo prints celebrate this genius: portraits and iconic scenes, in black and white, for a living room, an office or a home cinema.

Which Charlie Chaplin films and portraits do you offer as framed prints?

Our collection celebrates the Tramp, one of the most universal figures in cinema. You'll find Modern Times (1936), The Great Dictator (1940), City Lights and The Gold Rush. Are the Charlie Chaplin photos available in black and white?

Yes. Most of our Charlie Chaplin prints are offered in black and white — a look that beautifully brings out his Tramp silhouette, bowler hat and cane, true to the silent era.
