Sylvia Kristel Biography

Born on 28 September 1952 in the Netherlands, Sylvia Kristel found immediate worldwide fame in the mid-1970s.

Emmanuelle (1974) became one of the biggest French box-office hits of the decade and made her the symbol of an era and of a new on-screen freedom. An actress with an international career, she went on to film in Europe and Hollywood, and worked with filmmakers such as Roger Vadim and Walerian Borowczyk.

Her image, poised between glamour and seventies aesthetics, remains inseparable from her time. Our framed Fine Art photo prints celebrate this icon: emblematic 1970s portraits, in black and white or, for some, in colour, for a living room or a retro-styled interior.

Frequently asked questions

Which Sylvia Kristel films and portraits do you offer as framed prints?

Our collection celebrates the icon of 1970s cinema. You'll find Emmanuelle (1974), a phenomenon of its time, along with her studio portraits. The most requested prints are her emblematic 1970s portraits and her black-and-white photos — each in a numbered limited edition.

Are the Sylvia Kristel photos available in black and white?

Yes. Most of our Sylvia Kristel prints are offered in black and white — a look that beautifully showcases her poise and the seventies style, notably her portraits from the Emmanuelle period. Some images are also available in colour, to bring back the period tones. Each print is produced on Fine Art photo paper then hand-framed in solid wood in our in-house workshop, with a black or white mat to choose from. Black and white remains the most requested by collectors for a chic, timeless display.

Are these Sylvia Kristel prints authentic, and in which sizes?

Each Sylvia Kristel photograph is a gallery artwork, not a mere reproduction. The print is produced in a numbered limited edition on Fine Art photo paper, then delivered with a certificate of authenticity (COA), a hologram and a traceability QR code that guarantee its origin. Two sizes are available: 70×50 cm (Starck Original) or 60×40 cm (Starck Medium), hand-framed in solid wood in our in-house workshop, black or white mat to choose from. The piece arrives ready to hang and protected for transport — the level of care that makes it a true collector's piece.
