Steve McQueen Biography

Born on 24 March 1930 in Indiana, Steve McQueen had a difficult youth and enlisted in the Marines before taking to the stage in New York.

Cinema revealed him in The Magnificent Seven (1960) and The Great Escape (1963), but it was Bullitt (1968) and its Ford Mustang chase through the streets of San Francisco that raised him to the rank of myth. Nicknamed the “King of Cool”, the highest-paid actor of his time, he established a laconic, independent and magnetic hero, from The Thomas Crown Affair to Papillon.

A passionate driver, he realised his dream with Le Mans (1971) and collected motorcycles and racing cars — Porsche, Jaguar, Ferrari. Our framed Fine Art photo prints celebrate this icon: black-and-white portraits and snapshots behind the wheel, in black and white or, for some, in colour, for an office, a living room or an exceptional garage.

Frequently asked questions

Which Steve McQueen films and portraits do you offer as framed prints?

Our collection celebrates the “King of Cool” and his passion for speed. It features The Magnificent Seven (1960), The Great Escape (1963), the car chase of Bullitt (1968) in a Ford Mustang, Le Mans (1971) and The Thomas Crown Affair. The most requested prints are McQueen behind the wheel, his motorcycles, his Porsches and Jaguars, and his black-and-white portraits — each a numbered limited edition.

Are the Steve McQueen photos available in black and white?

Yes. Most of our Steve McQueen prints are offered in black and white — a look that superbly showcases his rugged, motoring style, notably the snapshots behind the wheel and the Bullitt Mustang. Some images are also available in colour, to recover the period tones. Each print is produced on Fine Art photo paper then hand-framed in solid wood in our in-house workshop, with a black or white mat of your choice. Black and white remains the most requested by collectors for a chic, timeless display.

Are these Steve McQueen prints authentic, and in what sizes?

Each Steve McQueen print is a traceable collector's piece. Produced in a numbered limited edition on Fine Art photo paper, it comes with its certificate of authenticity (COA), a hologram and a traceability QR code. Two sizes to choose from: 70×50 cm (Starck Original) or 60×40 cm (Starck Medium), hand-framed in solid wood in our in-house workshop, black or white mat. The whole piece arrives ready to hang and carefully packaged — the standards of an art gallery applied to every order.

Does a Steve McQueen print make a great gift, and do you ship to Europe?

Yes, it is one of our most gifted pieces.
