Watercolour at the gallery
Our original watercolours rely on transparency, the fluidity of water and the freshness of the gesture — a demanding technique where nothing can be corrected, yielding luminous, vibrant works. Alongside our paintings, watercolour dialogues with abstract art as much as with figuration, where oil on canvas favours matter and depth. Each sheet is worked on quality paper, from light washes to dense layering. Discover all our artworks.
A certified original work
Each watercolour is an original piece, signed by the artist, unique or issued as a numbered limited edition and delivered with its certificate of authenticity. At the gallery you can see the work before buying; we produce a bespoke watercolour frame in our in-house workshop, with a mount and UV-protective glass that shields the pigments from light, and ship it by tracked, insured delivery throughout Europe, in reinforced, rigid packaging.
Watercolour at Starck Gallery
Watercolour is one of the oldest painting techniques: finely ground pigments, diluted with water and laid on paper, playing on transparency and the light left by the white of the support. It is an art of spontaneity and precision — every wash is final, nothing can be reworked — producing works of an inimitable freshness and delicacy, highly sought after to bring softness and breathing space to an interior.
At Starck Gallery (880 m² in Elche, Costa Blanca), our watercolours are original works, signed and unique or issued as a numbered edition. Made on quality paper, from the intimate small format to the large sheet, they span abstraction, landscape and figure alike. Each piece ships with its certificate of authenticity and travels by tracked delivery, flat and in rigid packaging, throughout Europe.
Frequently asked questions
What is an original watercolour?
An original watercolour is a work painted by hand with water-diluted pigments on paper, as opposed to a printed reproduction. Its visual signature comes from the transparency of the colours and the light of the paper showing through the washes, giving a luminosity and finesse impossible to reproduce identically. Each watercolour at the gallery is unique or issued as a numbered limited edition, signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
How do you frame and preserve a watercolour?
Watercolour is sensitive to light: avoid direct sun and favour a wall that receives no direct rays. The ideal framing combines a mount, which keeps the sheet away from the glass, with UV-protective glass that shields the pigments from fading. We produce this bespoke framing in our workshop. Keep the work away from humidity and sudden temperature changes; protected this way, a watercolour lasts for decades without losing its brilliance.
How do you choose a watercolour for your interior?
Watercolour brings softness and breathing space: it suits light interiors, bedrooms and reading nooks particularly well, where its delicacy works wonders. Start from the room's palette — cool, bluish tones to soothe, ochres and earths to warm — and from the space available: a small format sits on a shelf or groups into a series, while a large framed sheet becomes a focal point. Above all, trust the emotion and the light the work gives off.
Are your watercolours certified originals, delivered across Europe?
Yes. Each watercolour is an original work painted and signed by the artist, unique or issued as a numbered limited edition, supplied with a certificate of authenticity that guarantees its origin. You can buy it online or discover it in person at our gallery in Elche. We ship by tracked, insured delivery to France, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Spain, the Netherlands and all of Europe, flat and in rigid packaging that protects the paper; collection at the gallery is also available.
