Acrylic painting
Original acrylic painting is prized for its honest colours and its light: it dries fast, allows both thick impasto and clean flat areas, and ages without yellowing. It is a medium of choice for abstract art as well as figuration. Compared with oil on canvas, which is slower and more blended, acrylic offers sharper contrasts and great stability over time. Find our acrylic paintings on canvas among all our paintings and our works of art.
A certified original work
Each acrylic painting is an original piece, painted and signed by the artist's own hand, unique or issued in a numbered limited edition, and supplied with its certificate of authenticity — the guarantee of a genuine original, never a reproduction. At the gallery you can see the work before buying; we frame it to measure in our in-house workshop and ship it by tracked, insured delivery across Europe, in reinforced packaging that protects the canvas and the frame.
Acrylic painting on canvas at Starck Gallery
Emerging in the mid-20th century, acrylic paint established itself as the medium of contemporary artists: brilliant colours, fast drying, great freedom of gesture — from clean flat areas to thick impasto — and remarkable stability over time, without the yellowing of certain oils. It is today one of the most sought-after techniques in interior decoration, equally at ease in abstraction and figuration.
At Starck Gallery (880 m² in Elche, Costa Blanca), our acrylic paintings on canvas are original works, signed and unique or issued in a numbered edition. From living-room formats to very large formats, each piece leaves with its certificate of authenticity, custom-framed in our workshop if you wish, and travels by tracked delivery across Europe.
Frequently asked questions
What is an acrylic painting on canvas?
It is a work painted with colours made of pigments bound by a water-diluted acrylic resin, applied to a canvas stretched on a frame. Acrylic dries within a few minutes to a few hours, which makes it possible to layer coats quickly, to work both in clean flat areas and in thick matter, and to obtain honest, luminous colours. Once dry, the film is solid and resistant, which makes acrylic a medium much appreciated for abstract art as well as for contemporary figurative painting.
What is the difference between acrylic and oil?
The difference lies mainly in the binder and the drying time. Acrylic, diluted with water, dries fast and gives vivid, crisp and stable colours that do not yellow over the years. Oil, diluted with solvent, dries slowly: it allows subtle blends and an incomparable depth of matter, but requires patience and a protective varnish. Neither is superior to the other — it is a matter of rendering and sensibility. At the gallery you will find both: our acrylic paintings here, and our oil works in their dedicated collection.
How do you care for an acrylic painting?
Acrylic is robust and requires little maintenance. Dust the surface with a soft, dry cloth, without water or household products that could mark the paint film. Avoid direct, prolonged exposure to the sun to preserve the brightness of the colours, as well as very humid spaces. Never place adhesive tape on the paint and handle the canvas by the stretcher. Cared for in this way, an acrylic painting keeps its vivid colours for decades.
Are your acrylic canvases certified originals, delivered across Europe?
Yes. Every acrylic canvas at the gallery is an original work, painted and signed by the artist's own hand, unique or issued in a numbered limited edition, and supplied with a certificate of authenticity that guarantees its origin — never a printed reproduction. We frame the work to measure in our in-house workshop and ship it by tracked, insured delivery across Europe, in reinforced packaging. You can also discover it in person at our Elche gallery.
