About this photo
The Doulos (1962) - Jean-Paul Belmondo in Jean-Pierre Melville's dark world
Filmed on the streets of Paris and in a studio in Joinville, "Le Doulos" marks the second collaboration between Jean-Pierre Melville and Jean-Paul Belmondo. This photo captures the essence of the French crime thriller, in which Belmondo plays Silien, an ambiguous character torn between loyalty and betrayal. Melville, a master of French film noir, directs a cast that includes Serge Reggiani and Jean Desailly, creating a unique atmosphere that blends American influences with French sensibilities.
Made on a budget of 400,000 francs, the film drew more than a million viewers in France. This film cemented Belmondo’s reputation as an iconic figure of popular auteur cinema, following Godard’s *Breathless*. The success of "Doulos" allowed Melville to continue his series of cult crime films with "Le Samouraï" and "Le Cercle rouge," definitively establishing his recognizable style.
This fine art print is hand-framed in a limited edition of 30 copies. Printed on fine art paper in a 70x50 cm format, it is presented in a solid wood frame with 3mm crystal glass. Each print comes with a certificate of authenticity featuring a hologram and ships within 48 hours.
Immerse yourself in the murky world of *Doulos*, where every glance from Belmondo reveals the mysteries of Melville’s crime thriller.
