The film. Directed by Jean-Pierre Melville in 1962, Le Doulos is a masterpiece of crime cinema in which Jean-Paul Belmondo plays Silien, an informer of murky loyalty. Melville sculpts a mythology of the gangster, made of honour, betrayal and silences, carried by the charisma of his star.
