Reinhard Sommer is an Austrian painter born in Vienna in 1961. Initially trained in textile printing, he taught at the University of Art and Design Linz and worked alongside Viennese fantastic realism masters Ernst Fuchs and Wolfgang Hutter, whose art he transposed onto fabric. He also designed patterns for major eyewear companies before dedicating himself fully to large-format painting.
His signature lies in a squeegee technique and a gold pigment he developed himself, "Icon Gold," which give his canvases intense, abstract color compositions. He describes his work as "waves of color": order born from disorder, vibrant and free. His career includes solo exhibitions, artist residencies, and performance art projects.
