The film. Directed by Brian De Palma in 1987, The Untouchables tells the hunt for Al Capone in Prohibition-era Chicago. Sean Connery plays Jim Malone, a veteran cop who guides Eliot Ness (Kevin Costner) — a role that won him the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 1988.
