Brigitte Bardot Biography

Born on 28 September 1934 in Paris, Brigitte Bardot started out as a dancer and model before cinema seized her image and made her the symbol of a new freedom.

The breakthrough came in 1956 with Roger Vadim's And God Created Woman, filmed in Saint-Tropez, which propelled “BB” to international stardom. Then came Godard's Contempt (1963), Viva Maria! alongside Jeanne Moreau, A Very Private Affair and The Truth, establishing a free, modern and elusive icon. A muse to the greatest photographers, she turned Saint-Tropez into a myth.

A singer (the unforgettable Harley Davidson with Serge Gainsbourg) and a figure of a carefree France, she left cinema in 1973 at the height of her fame. Our framed Fine Art photo prints celebrate this legend: studio portraits and beach snapshots, in black and white or, for some, in colour, for a living room, a bedroom or a dressing room.

Frequently asked questions

Which Brigitte Bardot films and portraits do you offer as framed prints?

Our Brigitte Bardot collection — the largest in the gallery — brings together her most sought-after studio portraits and snapshots. It features the breakthrough of And God Created Woman (1956) filmed in Saint-Tropez, Godard's Contempt (1963), Viva Maria! alongside Jeanne Moreau, as well as her legendary summers on the French Riviera. The most requested prints are her black-and-white portraits, her blonde mane and the beach scenes — each a numbered limited edition.

Are the Brigitte Bardot photos available in black and white?

Yes. Most of our Brigitte Bardot prints are offered in black and white — a look that superbly showcases her blonde mane, her pout and her insolent sensuality, notably the Saint-Tropez snapshots. Some images are also available in colour, to recover the period tones. Each print is produced on Fine Art photo paper then hand-framed in solid wood in our in-house workshop, with a black or white mat of your choice. Black and white remains the most requested by collectors for a chic, timeless display.

Are these Brigitte Bardot prints authentic, and in what sizes?

Each Brigitte Bardot print is a traceable collector's piece. Produced in a numbered limited edition on Fine Art photo paper, it comes with its certificate of authenticity (COA), a hologram and a traceability QR code. Two sizes to choose from: 70×50 cm (Starck Original) or 60×40 cm (Starck Medium), hand-framed in solid wood in our in-house workshop, black or white mat. The whole piece arrives ready to hang and carefully packaged — the standards of an art gallery applied to every order.

Does a Brigitte Bardot print make a great gift, and do you ship to Europe?

Yes, it is one of our most gifted pieces. A framed Brigitte Bardot print — the absolute icon of French charm — delights lovers of photography, fashion and the Saint-Tropez spirit, and makes an ideal gift for a birthday, a housewarming or a wedding.
