Roger Moore in *The Saint* - The British charm of Simon Templar
Filmed primarily at Elstree Studios and on the streets of London, *The Saint* catapulted Roger Moore to international fame between 1962 and 1969. This cult series, produced by Robert S. Baker and Monty Berman based on the novels by Leslie Charteris, showcased Roger Moore’s talent and natural elegance, laying the groundwork for his future career as a secret agent on the big screen.
Broadcast in more than 60 countries, *The Saint* generated massive revenues for ITC Entertainment and definitively launched Moore’s career. The series consisted of 118 episodes spread over six seasons, establishing Simon Templar as one of the most iconic television heroes of the 1960s. The phenomenal success of this British production paved the way for Roger Moore to portray James Bond a decade later.
