About this photo
Star Trek 1965 - Gene Roddenberry's legendary trio on the original set
This photograph captures William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, and DeForest Kelley during the filming of the original Star Trek series in 1965 at Desilu Productions studios in Culver City. Gene Roddenberry, the visionary creator, had initially conceived the character of Spock with red skin, before Leonard Nimoy suggested the iconic greenish complexion. Star Trek revolutionized television science fiction with its multiethnic cast, which was bold for its time.
Despite a difficult first season and modest ratings, the series sparked an unprecedented cultural phenomenon. The Kirk-Spock-McCoy trio became the archetype of complex relationships in fiction, inspiring decades of productions. William Shatner transformed his theatrical style into a memorable signature, while Nimoy created the now-universal Vulcan gestures.
This fine art print is hand-framed in our studios and limited to just 30 copies. Printed on 70x50 cm fine art paper, it is enhanced by a solid wood frame and protected by 3mm crystal glass. Each piece includes a certificate of authenticity with a hologram and ships within 48 hours.
