About this photo

Louis de Funès in *The Gendarme of Saint-Tropez* - The legendary Cruchot on the French Riviera

This iconic photo captures Louis de Funès in his most iconic role as Chief Warrant Officer Ludovic Cruchot. Directed by Jean Girault in 1964, *The Gendarme of Saint-Tropez* was filmed on location at the Saint-Tropez gendarmerie station, forever transforming this small Provençal town into a symbol of popular French cinema.

A true cinematic phenomenon, the film drew more than 7.8 million viewers in France and launched a six-film series that would go on to attract nearly 40 million admissions. This exceptional success catapulted Louis de Funès to international stardom and made Gendarme Cruchot one of the most memorable characters in French cinema, rivaling the greatest figures in the world of comedy.

This fine art photograph is hand-framed in our Parisian workshops and limited to just 30 copies. Printed on 70x50 cm Fine Art Museum paper, it is enhanced by a solid wood frame and protected by 3mm crystal glass. Each piece is certified with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) and a hologram, and ships within 48 hours.

A moment of eternity that captures the magic of French cinema’s most famous police officer.
