About this photo

Alain Delon in *Le Samouraï* - Melville's Icy Elegance

This photograph captures Alain Delon in his most iconic role, Jef Costello, the lone hitman in Jean-Pierre Melville’s *Le Samouraï* (1967). Filmed at the Billancourt studios, this scene captures the very essence of the French film noir genre with that now-legendary beige coat and fedora. Melville had insisted that Delon wear his own clothes to accentuate the natural presence that made him the most charismatic French actor of his generation.

The film, produced by Eugène Lépicier, drew more than 4 million viewers in France and catapulted Delon to international stardom. This collaboration with Melville, followed by *Le Cercle Rouge*, marked the golden age of French crime cinema. *Le Samouraï* has had a significant influence on cinema worldwide, inspiring filmmakers such as Quentin Tarantino and John Woo.

This fine art print is hand-framed in our studios and is available in a limited edition of 30 copies. Printed on fine art paper in a 70x50 cm format, it is presented in a solid wood frame with 3mm crystal glass. Each piece comes with a certificate of authenticity featuring a hologram and is shipped within 48 hours.

Embody the perfect embodiment of French cool, where every glance carries the intensity of a cinematic legend.
