About this photo

Back to the Future - The DeLorean DMC-12 in Doc Brown's Lab

The legendary DeLorean DMC-12 from *Back to the Future* was chosen by Robert Zemeckis for its spectacular gull-wing doors and futuristic design. John DeLorean himself approved the use of his car, hoping to boost sales of his struggling model. Seven DeLoreans were used during filming, including a radio-controlled version for stunts.

The film grossed $381 million at the global box office in 1985, catapulting Michael J. Fox to international stardom. Steven Spielberg, the executive producer, pushed for Fox despite initial reservations from Universal Studios. The trilogy became a cultural phenomenon, turning the DeLorean into an icon of science fiction cinema and inspiring generations of science fiction enthusiasts.

Step back in time with this legendary machine that has left its mark on the history of cinema.
