Harry Potter the Sorcerer's Stone - The Trio in the Great Hall
Filmed at Leavesden Studios in 2001, this first installment of the Harry Potter saga Harry Potter the film debuts of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, who were selected from thousands of applicants by director Chris Columbus. This iconic scene in the Great Hall was filmed in a 40-meter-long set inspired by Christ Church College in Oxford, where J.K. Rowling herself had studied.
With a budget of $125 million, the film grossed over $974 million at the global box office, becoming the second-biggest hit of 2001. Chris Columbus successfully brought Rowling’s magical world to life, drawing on Stuart Craig’s spectacular sets and John Williams’ iconic score. This faithful adaptation laid the groundwork for a franchise that would leave its mark on an entire generation.
Relive the magic of that first encounter with Hogwarts, where three ordinary children discover their extraordinary destiny.
