About this photo
A Munster Family Christmas in the iconic Gothic living room of Mockingbird Lane
This 1987 Christmas TV movie marks the return of the Munsters family to the screen after more than twenty years away. Produced by Arthur Alsberg and Don Nelson for NBC, this special production reunites part of the original cast in the iconic sets of the cult series. Filming took place at the same Universal Studios where the 70 original episodes were shot between 1964 and 1966.
Aired on December 21, 1987, this TV movie drew more than 12 million American viewers, proving the public’s unwavering affection for this endearing family of monsters. The production required the faithful reconstruction of the iconic sets, notably the spiral staircase and the living room with its Victorian furniture. This television revival inspired numerous other revivals of classic series in the years that followed.
Rediscover the gothic magic of Christmas with the Munsters, where the holiday spirit takes on a delightfully monstrous twist.
