About this photo
Breakfast at Tiffany's - Audrey Hepburn the iconic window display on Fifth Avenue
This iconic image captures one of cinema’s most memorable scenes, filmed in front of the actual Tiffany & Co. store in New York. Blake Edwards directed Audrey Hepburn in what would become her most iconic role, that of Holly Golightly. The black Hubert de Givenchy dress worn in this scene was sold at auction in 2006 for £467,200, an all-time record for a movie dress at the time.
Based on Truman Capote's short story, the film grossed $14 million at the global box office in 1961. George Peppard played Paul Varjak alongside Hepburn, while Henry Mancini’s song “Moon River” won the Oscar for Best Original Song. This film cemented Tiffany & Co. as a symbol of timeless luxury and madeAudrey Hepburn of Parisian elegance in Hollywood.
A truly exceptional piece that captures the moment when Holly Golightly gazed dreamily at the diamonds—an eternal symbol of our most cherished aspirations.
